Ian and I got together on March 5th 2016 and in classic Ian fashion, he was like "let's try and write a song". So we went downstairs at his house, sat down and knocked this song and recording out in a couple hours. I had completely forgotten what the song sounded like but knew Ian had yet again facilitated the writing of a song independent of result or goal. Ian played the guitar, structured a lot of the chord changes and recorded it while adding any of the production elements you hear. I sang it and wrote the lyrics with some input from him there as well. He sent me the song a few days later under the title of 'rian', an obvious mash up of Ryan and Ian. He had that rare gift of being a great organizer and facilitator and great at giving people a voice/encouraging them to use it while not making it about him. I can't say how happy I was to be able to go back in my emails and find this from him. This song is a wonderful way to have a tangible connection to him in his absence. - Ryan
