This is a good example of what can ideally happen with the Downtown Shelter Program. This song was created by small group of ladies in an "open jam" type of creative process. Many of them had never played any instruments before, but we quickly taught them a few simple chords and notes on bass, guitar, and keys while one of our staff members backed them up on drums. Then we were able to collaborate and write lyrics to the music, which ended up being sung by 2 girls during the recording process. All in all, we were able to learn instruments, write, and record a song in about 30 minutes time.
